This past year – because of our donors, community partners, and volunteers – HOPE has been successful in accomplishing many amazing housing outcomes for people with developmental disabilities. In 2019 alone, we added seven new units of affordable housing to our portfolio, preserved six 24-hour residential care homes, and opened two new supported living locations. These accomplishments were made possible in part because of the funds raised during our 2018 End-of-Year Giving Campaign.

This year we hope to, once again, supercharge our 2020 objectives by raising more than $10K between now and December 31st. Donations received during this campaign will directly fund renovations at our newest property on Clark Ave in Long Beach. These units are scheduled to open in 2020 and will be home to six people with developmental disabilities moving out of less-independent settings.

Our campaign starts on September 19th when HOPE participates in Long Beach Gives (LBG), a day of giving designed to spread awareness for some of Long Beach's finest charitable organizations. HOPE’s participation in LBG is an opportunity for those that live, work, or play in Long Beach to give back to organizations they love within that community. Please donate on 9/19/19 or create a personal fundraising page connected to supporting our goal at https://www.longbeachgives.org/team/hope-inc.

Beyond this exciting inaugural appeal from HOPE’s End of Year Giving Campaign, we will offer many additional ways for community members to help us reach our fundraising goal. In October, HOPE constituents will receive a letter and email from long-time HOPE advocate Mercedes Lowery, who will share her reasons for supporting our work over the past 25 years and provide recipients an opportunity to give. This letter will be followed by #GivingTuesday on December 3rd, which will give donors another way to contribute online or through Facebook. #GivingTuesday is a day of philanthropic celebration taking place on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday. Remember to consider HOPE! Donations can be made here: http://weblink.donorperfect.com/hope_donate.

Lastly, in mid-December, our HOPE Helps Gift Catalog will be emailed to our supporters, allowing them the chance to choose a home gift item or renovation project to benefit our residents, while simultaneously honoring a loved one with a free personalized holiday card.

Please donate today and become a hero in the lives of our residents! Your contribution directly enables HOPE to more quickly renovate and open our newest stable, affordable housing location on Clark Avenue in Long Beach.
